Ever notice how your iOS device will notify you twice about an incoming text message? By default the Messages app will inform you when the text/sms arrives, and once again two minutes later. The idea is to grab your attention in case you were away the first time around. But it can get very annoying, especially if you did see it the first time but intend to respond at a later time.
A little known fact is that this can be easily disabled in the iOS Notifications settings.
To turn off repeat notifications from Messages:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Messages
- Scroll down and open the “Repeat Alerts” menu.
- Check off “Never”.
You’ll notice the other options are Twice, 3 Times, 5 Times and a whopping 10 Times for the extremely forgetful. Repeated alerts are fired off at two minute intervals. Apple should have really turned this off by default, but now you know how to customize it yourself.
